Soothing, Fresh Sage Tea
Soothing Fresh Sage Tea
Prep time: 2 minutes | Steep time: 5–7 minutes
Ingredients
1 cup Boiling water
5–7 Fresh sage leaves (Common garden sage)
1 tsp Raw honey or maple syrup (optional)
1 slice Fresh lemon (optional, for a citrusy lift)
Instructions
Prepare the Leaves: Gently rinse your fresh sage leaves. Lightly "slap" them between your palms once—this bruises the leaves just enough to release their essential oils and aromatics.
Infuse: Place the leaves in your favorite mug. Pour the boiling water directly over the leaves.
Steep: Cover the mug with a small saucer. This is a crucial step! It prevents the beneficial volatile oils from escaping with the steam. Let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
Strain & Sweeten: Remove the leaves with a spoon (or leave them in for a stronger flavor). Stir in your sweetener and a squeeze of lemon if desired.
Why it’s great for you:
Antioxidant Boost: Sage is high in rosmarinic acid, which helps reduce inflammation.
Brain Health: Studies suggest sage can improve memory and mood.
Winter Wellness: It’s a natural "drying" herb, making it excellent for easing congestion or a scratchy throat during the colder months.
Note: Because sage is quite potent, it’s generally recommended to enjoy it in moderation. If you are pregnant or nursing, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor before adding herbal teas to your routine.
